Here you
will find information on all sorts of sauna subjects.
DETOXING THE BODY – IT’S A PIECE OF CAKE
A little to much alcohol and an overindulgence in fatty foods places unneeded demands on your liver. Fortunately, you can help support your liver even while you party!
A World of Toxins
Cigarette smoke, passive cigarette smoke, pesticides, herbicides, lead, mercury in some seafood, food additives and drugs are just some of the substances you are exposed to on a daily basis. These days the liver has to wok extra hard as the main protector against these harmful toxins. Amazingly, one of the livers main functions is turning these health threatening toxins into less harmful water-soluble compounds that the body excretes. Commonly referred to as ‘detoxification’, or detox.
Protective Qualities of the Liver
The process of ‘detoxification’ occurs in two stages. Stage 1 is ‘conversion’ and Stage 2 is ‘excretion’.
In Stage 1 the liver oxidizes the fat-soluble toxins in preparation for conversion to water-soluble compounds. A broad variety of nutritional co-factors are needed, including iron, magnesium,
amino acids, vitamins B2, B3, B5, B5, B12 (the 'B' Group), folic acid, and bioflavonoid
from fruit, vegetables and herbs.
A bi-product of Phase 1 is the generation of free radicals that can damage liver cells, as well as other body tissue, increasing demand for antioxidants. The best known antioxidants are vitamins. Some of the important antioxidants that protect the liver include vitamin C, vitamin E, Vitamin B group, selenium, coenzyme Q10, copper, zinc, manganese, molybdenum, carotenoids and flavonoids from fruit, green leafy vegetables and herbs.
During Stage 2 oxidized toxins are combined with water-soluble compounds such as amino acids. Finally, the body excretes these large compounds in bile and
are removed when we go to the toilet.
Saunas
- The Perfect Balance
These
days, no one can be blamed for missing that balanced meal or healthy
smoothie. But every time you do have that "occasional" naughty
snack you build up unwanted nasties. Most likely your body needs help.
The
sauna is THE perfect way to help excrete toxins through the bodies
largest organ...the skin!
It
doesn't matter if you use a steam bath or an infrared
home sauna. All do your body the world of good...some better than
others.
It’s a Piece of Cake!
Keep in mind that almost 80% of all antioxidants/vitamins are water soluble, this means they pass through the body in 4-5 hours! ALL people need a constant replenishment of these free radical fighters.
You don’t need to be a “health fanatic” to keep your body doing what it needs to do. A balanced mix of
'great tasting' foods AND fruit, vegetables, and adequate protein will assist
the vital detox process. Supplementing with ‘essential’ co-factors such as B vitamins, minerals, trace elements and anti-oxidants, together with the powerful ‘complimentary’ liver tonics, milk thistle, globe artichoke and dandelion, will
also ensure a healthy bodily process.
Just remember, having a healthy body is a “piece of cake”…and…a piece of fruit!
