About the Sauna

Q. What type of heaters are offered in your system
A.
Waterstar saunas uses only 100% Pure Ceramic Far Infrared heaters emitters.
[top]

Q. How do you clean the sauna?
A. Prevention is better than a cure. It's best not to allow any build up of dirt and grime.

1. Wipe the interior with a damp cloth, then allow to dry thoroughly.
2. When using the sauna place a towel on all the body contact areas, such as the floor, bench and backrests. This help absorb perspiration during a sauna session.
3. Any scratches or stains can be removed by using a fine grade sand paper.

Q. Are they easy to assemble?
A. You can assemble the unit with ease! It takes about 30-45 minutes. Assembly, and disassembly, of our infrared home saunas is easy and fast. All the major panels slip into place and are held by secure and strong latches. You may need a second person. The only other tool you need is a screwdriver. Full installation instructions and CD are supplied.
[top]

Q. How long does it take to warm up the sauna?
A.
It takes only 10 minutes to preheat, unlike traditional saunas that can take up to 30 minutes.

Q. How are your sauna made?
A.
All our saunas are made from solid Hemlock Fir with tongue and groove construction. Non-toxic glues are used inside and non-toxic finish outside.
[top]

A.
Hemlock Fir is a variety of pine tree grown in many parts of the world. Being a fast growing plantation timber it is environmentally friendly and sustainable. Cedar is fast becoming an endangered tree worldwide. Our infrared sauna timbers are kiln dried to prevent distortion and manufactured using non-toxic glues inside and non-toxic finish outside. For many years Hemlock infrared saunas have been used around the world including Europe, the Asia Pacific and the United States.

A.
The operating temperature range is 77°F to 149°F. Using the digital control panel you have total control over what temperature you want.

A.
No. This is a one of the major advantages over traditional saunas.

A. No. Another major advantage is that you just plug it into a wall socket. Though it is recommended that the power circuit the sauna is connected to matches the power ampage of the unit, especially the large 4 and 5 person saunas. We also recommend protecting your sauna by using a certified surge protector at the power point. Refer to each saunas specifications listed on our product.
[top]

Q. Is it cheap to run an infrared sauna?
A. Yes. Only cents per session, or $3 - $5 per month. You can work it out. You need three inputs: 1. How much you pay per hour from your electricity supply company, 2. How long you use the sauna, and 3. The number of watts your particular unit uses. The answer is a pleasant surprise!
[top]

Q. Can I control the heat?
A. Yes. The digital control panel is where you control the temperature and the time. Simply set the controls then site back and relax. Heat will be emitted for as long you allow it.

Using the Sauna

Q. Are saunas "seasonal"?
A. If you consider your health as being “seasonal” then yes, saunas are seasonal. Of course, optimal health requires daily maintenance. Your new sauna will help fight off the winter flu, as well as detox the body of any summer time party “overindulgence”. The sauna gives you year-round benefits, so use it regularly.
[top]

Q. Are infrared saunas safe for the elderly?
A. Yes. By it’s very nature the infrared home sauna utilizes a heating system (infrared) that is low in atmospheric temperature, therefore ideal for elderly, children and those with heart problems. However always consult your doctor first.
[top]

Q. Should I drink water before or after an Infrared sauna session?
A. Yes. Because you perspire much more than you usually would it’s advisable to drink plenty of clear, if possible purified water before, during and after each session. As well as drinking water during the sauna session. It is also advisable to replace lost mineral with quality supplementation.
[top]

Q. How often can I use the sauna?
A.
Normally, two or three times a week is of great benefit, though it can be used more, even daily.
[top]

Q. Is it safe for a very young child?
A.
Though hospitals are known to warm newborns this way it is totally up to you. Scientifically, there is no real information relating to the very young. A professional opinion should be sort.
[top]

Q. How many calories are burnt during a sessions?
A.
Depending on your physical makeup, far infrared saunas can burn between 600 and 900 calories in just one 30 minutes session. Approximately equal to a 1 hour jog.
[top]

Q. I don't sweat easily.
A. Depending on your body makeup and metabolism you may find, at first, that sweating does not come easy. If you are a person that doesn’t usually exercise the pause of your skin, and the tissue underneath the skin, can become ‘blocked’. After a few sessions you will start to perspire more and more until your body has cleared the tissue. From then on the body will do what it needs to do.
[top]

Q. Is there anything I should do special when I start using the Infrared sauna?
A. Drink plenty of good clean water. Because you perspire so much a quality multi-vitamin and minerals supplement is also a good idea.
[top]

Q. Is Infrared heat safe?
A. Yes. Infrared saunas are used by people the world over. Infrared heat is part of the very safe bandwidth of light, unlike tanning benches (ultraviolet light) or microwaves. Click here for more information.
[top]

Q. How long should one stay in the Infrared sauna?
A. If you are new to saunas it’s best to start with sessions approximately 15-20 minutes long – for a couple of weeks. Don’t push it. Let your body tell you when you want to stop. Just because you put the timer on for 20 minutes does not mean you have to do it. The maximum amount of time can depend on how many sessions you have each week. A good example would be 3-4 session a week, each of 30-45 minutes.
